The Anti-Surveillance Network
TwistedNET is a premier Internet Relay Chat (IRC) network for those who value privacy. Established in 2007, our mission is to provide a real-time messaging platform that respects user privacy in an era where every keystroke is monetized.
Unlike modern platforms like Discord or Slack, TwistedNET operates on the principle of ephemeral communication. We offer a secure online chat environment where messages are relayed instantly and never stored on our servers. This is why we enforce a strict policy of zero-logging.
We host a vibrant IRC network community of indie developers, white-hat hackers, and open-source enthusiasts. Whether you are looking for help with Linux, want to discuss cybersecurity, or simply need a place for online chat while you code, our channels are open 24/7.
How to Connect
Option 1: Instant Web Access (Easiest)
Don't want to install software? Simply click Connect Now to launch our modern web client. It is fully optimized for both mobile and desktop devices, allowing you to chat instantly from your browser without any setup.
For power users who prefer a dedicated desktop client, connecting to our active public IRC network is straightforward.
1. Choose a Client
We recommend HexChat (Windows/Linux) or Textual (macOS). For terminal users, Irssi or WeeChat provide the best experience.
2. Configure SSL
Ensure you enable "Use SSL for all servers on this network" and "Accept invalid SSL certificates" (if using a self-signed setup, though we use valid certs).
Once your client is installed, add a new network with the hostname irc.twistednet.org. Be sure to set the port to 6697 to ensure your connection is encrypted. This prevents anyone on your local network from snooping on your conversation or stealing your password.
